JILL BRAIDEN

Artist in Focus

About the Artist

I am a Sunshine Coast artist now painting full time after many decades of teaching art in Brisbane. I also make pottery and sculptures but my current passion is painting portraits and landscapes.

Philosophy and Approach

I firmly believe that without art our cultures are diminished. As a teacher I support all children having access to art education and the promotion of the Arts, especially through festivals like this.

Now that I am retired from teaching young adults I have really enjoyed working on the coast. Other than the challenge of painting portraits, my work has focused on local scenes and the iconic pandanus and feature colour, texture and unusual viewpoints.
