Mixed Media and Sculpture Judge
Setting up the gallery space to accommodate over 1000 pieces each year takes some care and a great deal of thought. Each piece is considered in terms of its category, media, subject, size, and colour. Patrons often comment on how well arranged the exhibition is, and this year our gallery consultant will be University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery Exhibitions Officer, Lou Jaeger.
Lou became involved with the Immanuel Arts Festival in previous years as a volunteer and ILC parent and decided to offer further assistance and industry expertise as our Gallery Consultant after enjoying the show so much. She believes in making sure we all have access to creative experiences whether it is through making your own art or viewing and enjoying the work of passionate artists.
"The Arts Festival is a huge team effort, but we need families and the coast community to really support events like this as creative endeavours benefit all of us in the long term. Art bring us joy and understanding and is a wonderful way for artists to connect with the local community.”
“We also host the Creative Generation Visual Art Excellence Awards at USC Gallery each year and see some amazing art work from Year 12 students across the region. These creatives could be our next artists, animation experts, illustrators, filmmakers, videographers and more so let’s continue to support the visual arts.”
Lou has her own art practice where she paints in her spare time. You can see more of her art on Facebook at Lou Jaeger Art or Instagram @loujaegerart. The University of the Sunshine Coast Gallery welcomes visitors Monday – Saturday 10am to 4pm and more information on our programs can be found at www.usc.edu.au/gallery.
The Arts Festival Committee and Immanuel Lutheran College welcomes Lou to the team and encourages everyone to come along and view the show and purchase art work to support artists but also strengthen this major school fundraiser.
